How credits work

Every conversion in Formatly is paid for out of a coin wallet, not a subscription. Here's exactly how the balance moves.

free trial on signup — no card required. Up to 5 free generations a day, no coins spent, before you need to buy a plan.

3 / 1

coins per page for Doc Export, or per question for Test Formater. You're only charged once a conversion actually succeeds — a failed upload or a PDF with no readable questions never costs you anything.

0

coins for re-downloading a file — everything you generate is saved under My Downloads, so losing the original download doesn't mean paying again.

Why two different pricing models?

Both tools charge based on how much work Mathpix and the AI actually do. Doc Export bills 3 coins per page — a 2-page worksheet and a 200-page book take very different amounts of OCR work, so the price scales with the page count Mathpix reports for your file. Test Formater instead charges 1 coin per question, since a two-question worksheet and a 100-question paper take very different amounts of AI work to structure. Either way, you're only billed after the conversion succeeds and the real page or question count is known — never a guess upfront.

AI-written solutions cost extra

Test Formater and Question Paper can have the AI work out a question's answer and write a full explanation when the source document doesn't already have one. Turning this on adds 0.5 coins per questionon top of the usual 1 coin — generating an explanation takes real extra AI work, so it's billed separately rather than folded into the base rate. Leave it off (or use an answer key that already has solutions) to skip the surcharge entirely.

Where to check your balance
